Our Club was able to help the ECDU (Early Childhood Developent Unit) at Deception Bay North State School, to put in a cement bike pathway for the little ones to ride their cars and bikes around. They invited us over today to show the finished product and present us with a lovely card the children made to say "Thank You"!!! It was our pleasure kids, enjoy!!!

Some of the children enjoying playing on the new Bicycle Pathway. The Sensory Garden and landscaping should be finished in time for school resuming in 2016.
Kippa-Ring Lions Changeover 2017-2018On the 6th of June, many members of our Club went to the Kippa-Ring Lions Club's Changeover Dinner at Dolphins Leagues Club at Kippa-Ring. The food was great and the fellowship was wonderful. It was amazing to catch up with old friends and make new ones! All the best for 2017-2018 guys!!!!!
Movie in the Park provided by MBRC - Saturday, February 18, 2017A great night was had by all at the Movie in the Park event, put on by MBRC. The movie was, "Finding Dory". There was also a rock climbing wall, popcorn stall, face painting, jumping castles and of course us, selling our 'World Famous' ( 😂) sausage sizzles and drinks!! The evening started at 4:30 and went on til around 8:30 so it was an early night for the kids. Councillors Julie Greer and Peter Flannery were there as well as our State Member for Murrumba (and our member!) Chris Whiting! Many thanks to all who attended and who worked and helped out in some way on the night!!!
Citi Australia Email Scam WarningSeveral members have reported these emails so it was investigated and this was sent out through on our Q3 Anounce Information:

Should you receive an email from Citi Australia and are not a customer you should not open the document. It is a scam. Someone seems to have gained access to the email addresses of the officers of Lions Clubs. I have received it about 5 times.
Simply delete it.

Vale Charles William 'Bill' ToonIt is with a heavy heart that I inform you all that (probably) our last Charter-Member, Charles William, "Bill" Toon passed away around 5pm Tuesday February 14, 2017. I received a call from his wife Myrtle last night. She said the funeral will be held this Monday, Feb. 20th at 1pm. at the Caloundra Seventh Day Adventist Church and Retirement Centre. 64 Sunset Dr. Caloundra.
He was a very good friend of mine for 15 years now and I know that all who knew him will miss him terribly. RIP Bill Toon. You will be dearly missed. 😕

2016 Christmas Carols Event!Hi everyone!!! Don't forget, today is the day!!!!!
the Deception Bay Christmas Carols Event extravaganza is on!!!!!!!
From about 3pm for the younger ones until about 8:30-9pm, we will have rides, food (sausage sizzle) and soft drinks / water, Glow Sticks for sale (gold coin donation) a Raffle will be won and Carols and best of all, Santa Claus will arrive!!!! It will be a bumper night so make sure y'all come along!!!!!!!!!
Its on at the Lions Hall, (the John Naumann Hall oval on Deception Bay Rd, next to the tennis courts & Sports Club oval!!!)
40th Anniversary for the Lions Club of Deception Bay Inc!!Our District Governor and his wife, Norm Jensen and Wendy, attended the 40th Anniversary of our Lions Club. A lovely surprise for a few people on the night were: 15 year Chevron for both Lions Lyn Silvester and myself! He also presented an extra special award from the International President to Lion Arthur Hayes, OAM, for Services to Youth! Well done Arthur, we are all very proud of you!!!!!!

We were founded in the 1970’s and, WOW, how time has flown. Definitely a reason to celebration our past, present and leading into the future. We extend an invitation to your members to join us. Peace Poster UpdatePEACE POSTER
A Celebration of Peace
Please note the theme for this year's Peace Poster competition is “A Celebration of Peace”. I am including in this notice some extracts from Helen Campbell National Peace Poster Chair as a reminder to those Clubs who regularly support this project and as notification to those Clubs that will be participating in this project for the first time.
There had previously been an indication (in the January Newswire) that the Peace Poster Kits (available from National Office at a cost of $20.00 (plus postage if applicable)) were already available for purchase. However I have been advised that there has been a delay in these arriving from LCI. We are of the understanding that these will be available by late February.
For those Clubs that include the Peace Poster competition in their Club activitites, please purchase your PP Kit and begin the process of negotiating with your local Schools to gain their support and commitment to participate in this International Youth Project competition. There are a number of items which I wish to bring to your attention as a reminder as it is very disappointing to have to withhold an entry from judging at the District level due to non-conformance of the competition rules.
Lioness Clubs can sponsor the contest through the sponsoring Lions Club. The Winner Sticker which is attached to all entries submitted, needs to show the Lions Club details. Also keep in mind that no words are allowed on the drawing. This is clearly stated in the rules and any entry with words included must be withdrawn from submitting for judging.
For those Clubs who have not previously been involved in the PP competition, it is recommended that a member of your Club is appointed as PP Chair and the Club become involved in this International Youth competition. A visit to the MD Convention Peace Poster stand would be most beneficial.
More information is available on the Lions Peace Poster website and the closing dates for last year are stated as a guidline for this current year. These will be updated for the current year shortly.
