We are the Lions Club of Deception Bay!

We, The Lions Club of Deception Bay Inc & the Lions Clubs International, endeavour to meet the needs of our local communities and the world.

Our Club does this usually by the use of our mobile Food Van.

Friday 1 May 2015. RESIDENTS AFFECTED BY LOCAL FLOODING

This enabled us to be on the ground within 1 1/2 hours of finding out a section of our local community had become victim to a massive rain event a few months ago. We were devastated to find out that residents so close had lost everything when their area became flooded. We liaised with our local Council, MBRC, to find out where the best place would be to set up our food van. Once set up, we spent 3 days cooking sausages, handing out cold bottled water and other food items donated by other residents or wonderful people from neighbouring suburbs that came out of their way to help a community in need!

{Lions members Robbie Jones & Lin Hayes with Chris Whiting, MP - State Member for Murrumba; State Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk with Moreton Bay Regional Council's Mayor, Alan Sutherland}

We also take our food van to the local Redcliffe Show, Caboolture Country Music Muster, and anywhere we are needed.

Caboolture Family Fun Day, August 2015

We also have a mobile stage that is for local community hire, (however it is currently off-road with repairs but should be ready again soon! Watch this space!) for events such as Christmas celebrations, school fetes, at the local Shows for their entertainment and we use it for our own Deception Bay Community Carols by Candlelight; held in conjunction with the Lighthouse Assembly of God church and Food Barn.

We don't always use the van to raise money. Our members have often been at our local shopping centre at the ready to 'shake a bucket' to collect donations towards Tsunami, Cyclones in Northern Queensland & Bushfire Appeals down south. We also do a Meat Tray Raffle at our local pub, which also helps to boost finances. After we have collected "all this money", what do we do with it? We give away the majority of it away at our end of year dinner, to local largely unfunded community groups, high school Chaplaincy program, local Soup Kitchen just to name a few.

As you can see, we Lions are a versatile and active bunch and serving our communities is what we, as Lions, do best! Of course, natural disasters and shows don't happen every week, but we do have a few other projects we are involved with as well.
